Blackboard Basics

Setting Up a Blackboard Course Shell and Adding Course Content

Blackboard is the Course Management System used at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). The Professional & Organizational Development Center at NKU provides Blackboard training for university faculty. This web-based training module was created to provide Blackboard training to the faculty who are unable to attend a hands-on training session.

Goal:
At the completion of this learning module, participants will be able to setup an NKU Blackboard course shell and begin adding course content such as syllabus and lecture notes.

Objectives:

  • Change the course settings option to Available.
  • Modify/change the course navigation menu to include a link called “Syllabus”.
  • Add a course syllabus to the course.
  • Add a PowerPoint to the course
  • Add faculty contact information to the course.

The links to the left provide step-by-step instructions setting up a Blackboard course at NKU.
